MC Cast Nylon vs. Injection Molded Nylon Steel-Core Gears:
Technical Selection Guide
Issued by: Yancheng Hongyi Tu Import & Export Co., Ltd.

1.Fundamental Manufacturing Difference
1.1 MC Cast Nylon (Monomer Casting Polymerization Process)
1.2 Injection Molded PA6 Nylon (Melt Injection Molding Process)
2. Performance Parameter Comparison Table

3. Application Selection Guidelines
3.1 Choose MC Cast Nylon Steel-Core Gears for Below Conditions
Heavy load, high torque and 24-hour continuous operation;
Gear outer diameter ≥200–300mm (injection molding impossible or uneconomical);
Humid, underwater or non-lubricated working environment;
Strict requirements on vibration damping and noise reduction;
Demand for long service life and low maintenance frequency.
Typical Applications: Large worm gears, heavy-duty transmission gears, mining machinery parts, marine equipment, metallurgical mill supporting components.
Supplier: Yancheng Hongyi Tu Import & Export Co., Ltd. (Specialized in non-standard MC nylon casting and customized steel insert gears)
3.2 Choose Injection Molded PA6 Steel-Core Gears for Below Conditions
Large quantity orders for small precision gears;
Cost priority under light/medium load working condition;
Thin-wall & complex structures requiring high-precision integral molding.
Typical Applications: Office equipment, small home appliances, light-duty power tools, consumer products.
4. Explanation on Cost Gap
The two products have completely different cost structures and cannot be simply priced against each other:
MC Casting: Adopts high-cost monomer raw material with long curing cycle. Despite low mold cost, large workpieces require big machining allowance leading to high material waste, resulting in higher overall cost. Its core advantage is unlimited maximum size and customized oversized non-standard parts, which is our flagship technology for heavy-duty wear-resistant transmission components.
Injection Molding: Uses low-cost nylon pellets and realizes high-efficiency mass production via multi-cavity molds. Disadvantages include expensive precision molds, limited part size and insufficient performance under heavy load.
Quoting the price of light-load injection molded parts to evaluate heavy-duty MC cast gears is an unfair comparison and shall not be taken as procurement basis.
5. Quick Visual Identification Methods
Size Judgment: Gears above Φ300mm are almost MC cast nylon, unable to be produced by standard injection machines;
Weight Judgment: MC nylon is denser and heavier with the same volume;
Surface Judgment: Cast gear tooth surfaces are post-machined cutting surfaces; injection molded gears have smooth as-molded surfaces.
6. Final Conclusion
Heavy load, oversized diameter, humid/unlubricated environment, long service life requirement → MC Cast Nylon Steel-Core Gear (Customized by Yancheng Hongyi Tu Import & Export Co., Ltd.)
Light load, small size, mass production, cost budget control → Injection Molded PA6 Steel-Core Gear
Each process has its proper application scenarios. Matching products with actual working conditions is the most cost-effective solution. Never make purchasing decisions only based on price.
